You never said goodbye
by ianblackpoet
No sunset song or sonnet
Nor parting kiss goodbye
No midnight mist or moonlight
Nor longing, tender sigh
No glancing back and wishing
Nor ember-flame of faith
No remnant of the fire
Nor sorrow-soaked embrace
No starlit solemn parting
Nor walk beside the waves
No tears of sweet nostalgia
For loving hearts, no graves
You couldn’t stand to soothe me
Or hold me as I cry
And what hurt me most of all
You never said goodbye
@alltimelow22 – Thanks dear. I wasn’t sure about this poem and, especially as my first poem in a while, I felt it was lacking…something…..everything =P But I’m glad you like it and I’ll try to get some quality stuff written soon, once I’ve shaken off my weariness and probably after school is over with forever.
Lacking absolutely nothing. If you would have added anything more, it might have become a little “showy” and not from the heart. I got goosebumps from reading it, it truly is beautiful. Thank you for sharing. =)
@Tasha_Baby_Lynn – Hey, what a beautiful comment to leave me! ^_^ That means a lot and has really brightened up my day (on the day of my english exam, no less). I needed a little kick to get me back in to writing poetry after the recent dry spell and that comment may have been it. I guess I’ll find out soon ^_^ Thank you Xx
Tragically beautiful.
@GrainsAndOats – Thank you very much! Beauty is my target with nearly every poem, except the rare few which prefer to strive toward the profound. Beauty is all I can ask to achieve ^_^ Xx
Wow… awww Ian! I want to give you a hug. I hope you’re okay.
@poetically_truthful – I’d love a hug from you =) How happy I am is a tricky business. I am neither as happy as I should be nor as tortured as I would appear, but somewhere in between =P Would explain but you’d get bored half way through xD
@IanBlack01 – Nonsense! Sooo… is this pain from the loss of the girl you loved?
@poetically_truthful – hahah…..oh, how I wish it was. How I wish I were still the sympathetic hero, trying to reclaim the remnants of his heart. It transpires, my darling, that fate makes villains of us all.
@IanBlack01 – A hint of darkness in your voice? Well now… I would be interested to know how fate has made a villain of you.
@poetically_truthful – I’m sure you would =P Perhaps I shall write it in to a work of poetry or a short story and claim it is fiction ^_^
@IanBlack01 – Do itttttt, I shall bug you until you do. 🙂
@poetically_truthful – Problem is, you couldnt bug me if you tried =P I like your company too much for that ^_^
@IanBlack01 – Mwahaha! That will change. :DJust kidding. 🙂
@poetically_truthful – Lol, try me! xD
@IanBlack01 – Iannnnnnnn, tell me your deep dark secrets!!!! Do it. *glare*
oh! okay…..deepest and darkest, eh?…..erm….I am actually quite fond of comic book characters, but have never read a comic in my entire life xD
